Sir,
We would like to thank Ved Gupta and colleagues for their commentary on our article. [1] Firstly, our apologies for the discrepancy between the text and figures. This was an error in data saving and the graphics program. Indeed the figures do not present the entire data.
Ved Gupta and colleagues make a valid point regarding the importance of age-matched controls in a study. We agree that age-matched controls will improve the quality of the study. However, it is tenuous at best to include patients younger than 40-50 years with cataract. All control patients had 2+ or 3+ cataract and we used the same nucleotomy technique in all patients. We thank the authors for their summary of other factors of endothelial cell loss which will benefit the readers. Our study was not meant as an exhaustive presentation of all the factors. In future studies, we intend to enroll a sample size including age-matched controls to better define the effect of blunt trauma on endothelium of cornea.
